Red Village Church,
Madison, Wisconsin has an irretrievable hold on my heart. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin in May of 2012, and I still dream about Greenbush Doughnuts, Camp Randall crowd noise and the Farmers’ Market. During my last two years in Madison, I had the privilege to be a part of Red Village Church. After my first bowl of RVC cereal and my first sermon from Pastor Aaron, I was hooked. I learned, served and loved as one of the Village People until I moved to Minneapolis in July of 2012.
When I moved to Minneapolis, my prayer was that I would grow to love my new city as much as I loved Madison. God answered that prayer by providing me with a wonderful local church, Hope Community. Here I met my best friends, and rejoice that I can serve and praise the risen Christ alongside them.
Hope Community Church’s mission is to honor God by helping as many people as possible become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. One way they fulfill this mission is called Leadership Development Institute (LDI), an internship track designed to grow participants in the areas of Biblical thinking, Christlike character and ministry skills.
I have been accepted to join Hope Community’s staff team as an LDI intern beginning August 1, 2014. Over the following ten months, I will spend 15 hours a week in Biblical and theological courses and the other 25 hours in ministry to our church of over 1,400 people. These hours will be spent mentoring, planning events and working alongside pastoral staff. I will also be leading a small group, continuing and expanding my role as editor on the women’s blog and using my gifts in ways I cannot currently imagine.
The Lord used Red Village Church to shape my perspective on the Gospel and on the God I serve, and I count it among my highest blessings to be partnered with you as I embark on this adventure.
